SPICE ISLAND TOUR (HALF DAY)

TOUR CODE: ZT-014725
08:30 – Pick-up from your hotel
One of the most fragrant and informative experiences in Zanzibar is the Spice Tour — a walk through the island's legendary plantations that gave Zanzibar its nickname: "The Spice Island."
It all began in 1810, when a ship from Indonesia brought clove seedlings to Zanzibar. By 1812, the first clove trees were planted. In the 1830s, Sultan Seyyid issued a decree: for every coconut palm, three clove trees must be planted. This launched Zanzibar into global fame as the leading exporter of spices for over a century.
During this tour you will:
 • See, touch, and taste a wide variety of spices: cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, vanilla, turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and more
 • Learn how plants are used locally in cooking, medicine, cosmetics, and rituals

 • Taste fresh exotic fruits straight from the trees
You’ll also visit the Persian baths, built by Sultan Seyyid for his beloved wife — Princess Sheherazade, granddaughter of the Shah of Persia.
🌿 A colorful and aromatic journey into the heart of Zanzibar's traditions.
